26 weeks

I know I haven't been the best with posting baby pictures, but hey, you've got to take them before you can post 'em! So here are a couple of belly shots....Maelea's getting bigger!

Oh the weather was amazing today so I stopped and got us some short ribs and corn on the cob and told Alex to fire up the grill. He grilled, I threw a few rolls in the oven and some brownies and we ate on our back patio and really enjoyed ourselves. Then, yes there's more after a full day of work, I went outside and planted some bulbs that mom sent back with me from spring break. I just did some around the mailbox, but I can't wait to see how they all turn out when they bloom!
Don't worry, my feet are up now!

One Day Without Shoes

If you know me, then you know I love TOMS shoes. Sure, I only have two pair and so does Alex, but we love them. Plus, I couldn't think of a better way for a business to give back. When you buy a pair, a pair goes to a child that doesn't have shoes. Don't believe me, check out www.toms.com for more information.

So, in my support of TOMS and what they do for children, which I love and work with everyday as well, I'm going barefoot for a day on April 8th, and so are other classes at my school. Actually people all around the world will be and I would like to encourage you to host/start your own barefoot for a day event at You can watch short video clips that promote the event, but it really is bringing awareness to the fact that shoes are important, they keep us warm, free from injury, and infections. Check it out.

A little fun work

We've been off this entire week for spring break and its been a good one. Family time on both sides, Alex's parents came down and we went to Bergman to see my parents...and Alex's new ride. He and my dad worked on it for two days, drove it, and I think played some too. I got to spend some great time with my mom shopping and digging up plants, which I can't wait to plant! I'm sure there will be updates on that as well. We also got to see Stephanie and Derek and Heather and Ross and Renee, and sleeping Amelia. Mitzi and the kids came over and then we watched Jeni play ball on our way back to our home.

Here are a few pics of the fun the guys had.

And I quote: "We're baldknobbers!" -Dad

I had to enjoy a little of the fun too.

Oh that wretched tear...and those baby bellies!

before and after

Wow, Spring Break has got me in the mood to blog........or it has just given me time and energy to blog, not sure which, but probably both. And I think I use too many commas. Anyways, last week was great because our wonderful and hilarious friend Holly came over to work her magic on the baby's room and our kitchen and breakfast area. She is a perfectionist when it comes to most things, but especially painting. She free hands every edge and rarely tapes anything off and I will say, you can't even tell it. She's got a talent for it. So if you've been to our house, then you've seen the hideous....I mean interesting, border that was selected before we moved in. So I've put up with it for a year and finally it looks nice and clean. I thought the color was going to be darker, but I still love it and we can do alot with it.

Here's the before.

And also, they wouldn't let me do anything, so that's why I took the pictures. Everyone, including mom, made sure I was just observing.

Here's the after.

If you know me, then you know I like color, so this is very subtle for me. But our home is still a fun work in progress. So there will be more color added, and I'm a blue/green person, so most things involve those two tones of some sort.

Speaking of color, here's a sneak peek of Maelea's unfinished room. Speaking of unfinished, I about croaked when I saw that baby Henderson's room was "done" on Derek's blog. After conversing with Steph, however, we both agreed that a man's "done" and a pregnant female's "done" are two completely different things. So her room is not finished, but I wanted to show you the color, which I LOVE, mama loves blue.
Yep, that's Holly workin' it. She didn't like me taking pictures, but I told her I had to document the process.

I will gladly post more when we get it completed!

boys toys

Well after lots of inside work, Alex finally has the toy of his dreams. What he would call, an "old school" or "muscle car." Its actually a '67 Ford Galaxy. My amazing parents went and got it yesterday in Joplin, MO. I did my best to keep it a secret, but it sure was hard! I'm so happy, because of course I love an old ride. Now its time to find my Cadillac.

My mom took these and sent them to me. So that's how I surprised him, by asking him if he wanted to see some pictures of a cool old car.

Now I don't think he should ask for any gifts for awhile, right?

alive and well

Yes, it has been awhile since I've posted but I've been busy and sick. My mom came down for several days to visit and spoil the crap out of us. We really enjoyed the time we got to spend together and Alex and I both loved her company and cooking. We did some fun shopping and I experienced my first swollen feet episode. It was such a relaxing time and I was actually sad Monday when she left. Alex could even tell when he got home on Monday, but I know she'll be back soon and hopefully with my dad. How in the world I only managed to get two pictures of when she was here, I have no idea, but they're cute.
She helped us get the office turned into a bedroom/ office and got the baby's room even more ready for paint and color!

And then Alex was up all night Monday with a terrible throwing up spell. I mean terrible and then it lasted the entire next day. A whole 24 hours of puking. I did my best to take care of him and myself and the baby. Then Wednesday night it hit me and I had what he had, but at least my throwing up didn't last as long as his, but I got a the fever that he didn't. That was miserable. I ate alot of popsicles and drank alot of water and 7-up. I took two days off work, which I hated, but I needed to do. Now we are both better, enjoying this lovely Saturday sunny weather, with the windows open and resting.

Maelea is moving a whole lot. Especially when I lay down and after I eat. I can tell she's getting bigger!
