I like

tv.....actually I think I love tv. I'm going to give you a list of my favorite shows, the ones I keep in stock on the dvr. (pictures of Maelea will be infused between the shows from this morning, playing on her ladybug pillow pet from aunt sheree.)

1. Parenthood- Mom and dad got us started on this one and I am oh so glad. The storyline is fantastic and I love every character. I literally get a little sad each time the show is over and not having any new episodes in the last week or so has been no fun. Speaking of, lots of shows I love are on break.....come back soon please.

2. Modern Family- simply hilarious. The dad that thinks he's so cool, Ty Burrell, is my favorite character. I tend to laugh out loud on every single episode.

3. Grey's Anatomy & Private Practice- These two are equal to me. Also waiting on them to return from winter break. Grey's used to be my fav, but I've really gotten into private practice and can't wait for early saturday mornings to catch up on it.

4. The Office- honestly, I used to think it was dumb and we didn't watch it. But we started watching the old ones on tbs and fell right in love. We now dvr it and laugh laugh laugh. For the record, I will continue to watch even when Michael leaves. :)

5. Parks and Recreation and Community- once again, these two are equal. And equally funny. Community might be a little funnier, but its also a little weirder.

#6 is a list of other shows that I love to watch but may or may not record and not at the top of the list:
Oprah, Nate Berkus show, swamp people, rachel zoe project, survivor, the middle, oprah's master class, project runway

She loves grabbing those antennas and chewing. She's napping now and I think I might try that.

tonight's adventure

It has been awhile, but I'm back. I simply refuse to do a post without pictures and since I know you really just read this to see pictures of Maelea, that's what I will give you. Plus some more things that I want to talk about.

Since I started my 1983photography blog I've realized that I must have the oldest most outdated version of blogger because my new one is super fast and easy and just different from this one. I'm not sure how to make this one that way, but it would be really nice if I could and it might solve that problem of people not being able to comment without doing some fancy trick.

This evening I went to get groceries with a new plan in mind. I got the idea, which is not a new one I KNOW, but it is new to me, to make a menu for Monday-Thursday night dinners for next week and the week after that, with a few suggestions from Alex. So this basically set my grocery list, trying to stick to items that I needed, for those dinners. Of course I had to get things that didn't pertain to those dinners: baby food, formula, soap, deodorant, milk, eggs, etc. But those are things we need. I think trying to stick to buying things that go with those meals will help with the grocery budget. We'll see though.

Maelea goes to bed anywhere from 6:55-7:30 each night and she sleeps until I go in there and get her at 6:15. She's eating oatmeal, vegetables, and fruit (all baby food of course) and doing formula bottles too. She's growing fast, well everything is growing fast except her hair. :)

Yes, sweet bug, I'm talking about you.

Happy Birthday Dad

I won't tell everyone your real age.........well I don't think you would even care if I did, but I won't.

Thanks for being such a great dad to Garrett and I, we love you lots.

Ohhh I'm gonna getcha with a couple of these.

Just a few good memories.

Thanks for being such a good Pappy. Maelea loves you.

big and bad

Well we did it, we went for it on Saturday.
Alex's long legs didn't have enough room and Maelea's backwards facing car seat just wasn't working with the previously stated long legs.

So we got this

Grrrrr....

Yeah, she's pretty mean.

We had a day off from work yesterday for MLK day. So nice to have a day off (especially since we don't get many bad weather days and when we do get one, we have to make it up, uhh hmm, anyways) and nice to teach my students about Dr. King and what he did for mankind. He was truly a servant for God and believed that we really could all work together and reach a level of peace that he dreamed about, using only love and words.
Thanks Dr. King.

So in honor of a warm snuggly day at home, we built a fire in the fireplace and it was so sweeeet. Maelea was swooned to sleep by the added warmth in the living room.

I'm working on my new blog for 1983photography. I'm almost ready to get it up and running, still need to add some things but it should be ready soon.

Lucas and Sarten Family

Tori and Matt are two of our friends that now live in Terrell, yeaa! They have a dog named Kate and she has a fantastic personality, very laid back, my kind of dog. This was my first shoot with a dog, and it went great. All you other k9 friends have a lot to live up to!

When you have specimens that look like this, it is fun and eeeeeasy. Not to mention as sweet as can be.

Now for the darling Sarten family. I work with Janell at school and we played softball with her and Devin. Taylor is in first grade and Kylie is 4 and man they are adorable!

Fun fact: it was 38 degrees when we did these.
Taylor: "Yes yes, let's take some more!"
Kylie: "I want to go home NOW!"

high flyer

Alex has been waiting awhile to be able to do this with Maelea. And she loooves it.

I think you can tell from that sweet smiling face.

She is truly a bundle of joy. Just as happy as can be.

She's been sitting in her high chair and doing such a good job of eating her solid foods. She ate five puffs last night and some tonight too and she really likes them. It is so funny because she sticks out her tongue and laughs and smiles because I'm laughing and smiling at her.

I just love her so much.

Snoooooow!

It is snowing today! We kept seeing it on the weather report, but all we saw and heard was rain. It rained last night and most of the morning. Then giant flakes started falling. Then spinning. Then swirling.

This was round one of Maelea's snow pictorial.
Side note: No, we did not go to church this morning. Here's why: my dad told me that when the weather gets bad down here, as in snow or ice, most people don't know how to drive on it. (Of course I'm not talking about any of you that do live down here and read this blog, seriously.) But I am talking about those people that I've seen down here that constantly hold their brakes down while driving on ice and slide into ditches, or those that swerve and make big trucks jack knife and slide into ditches blocking entire interstates. Yeah those people were avoided today and our child was kept safe and warm in our home. Sorry Lord, we'll be back next time.

Then the snow kept on falling. So we did a round two.

As you may have noticed, we only made it about two feet from the front door because Alex kept saying it was too cold for Maelea and the temperature was dropping and the wind was blowing right at her nose. Ok, so we went in and got warm again.

No school tomorrow???

Fulla Prunes

Yep, Maelea is full of them. She loves them, they are her favorite food right now. Prunes. Who would have thought? Not me.
But my sweet baby loves them.

See?

She is eating in her high chair and she's doing great with that. More pics later. It is Saturday and I'm loving it. Doing laundry, trying to get the house back together, playing and laughing with Maelea, feeding her, the list goes on.
