Wigs and Deals

We had a great weekend. Spent time with friends on Friday night, always fun. Then I went back to my roots Saturday morning. Garage Sales. I had such a fun time driving around and walking up to those sales. It brought back those memories of being little when my granny, mom, and I would go and of course we would start the day with chocolate milk and donut holes. I wanted to hit the donut store, but I was starving as soon as I got up, so I had to eat then.

So I got some goodies at the sales. Including this little jewel....I loved it when I saw it, but let me tell you, I couldn't believe the price. I asked the lady what she was asking for it and she said "Five dollars." I said "what? Five dollars, really?" And she said "yes." So I said "I'll take it!" Its worn and old, and cooomfy. I Love it!

Then we went to Michael's baptism, he's a friend of Alex and they work together. I got out my camera to take some pics of the big day and I had NO battery! I was quite upset.

Then Sunday afternoon we went thrifting with Brad. Pretty darn fun time, Alex almost lost his mind, but we did have fun. Oh yeah, we started the trip with one of those frozen coffe like drinks from the QT gas station by where he lives, so I was in heaven right off the bat. So we hit the thrift stores and we picked out lots and lots of books for Maelea. I already have a pretty good start on books for her, but I made out like a bandit Sunday. Alex found some suspenders and a tie and two red shirts for his basketball league. Then Brad bought this and I was crying I was laughing so hard. Oh and he bought an ET doll that was pretty funny too, and a chalk board.

The funny thing is, I actually had to post all three of these pictures because each angle is funnier than the next! I hope you're laughing now too.

Hoop It Up

I had planned on going to a few garage sales this weekend and just resting, but then Alex played in Hoop It Up in Dallas, so that's what we did Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was really cloudy and even sprinkled on us a little......and so my arms got really burnt, sun behind the clouds ALL day and all. So I woke up today and they ached, like to the bone. Weird. Here are a few shots from Saturday's games.

They played 5 games on Saturday; won 4, lost 1, so they were ranked number 1 going into Sunday. It was a long day, but fun. We had pizza and then starbucks afterwards so it was a real great time!

Today it was actually cold, like windy, misty, nasty weather cold. So we bundled up, my arms still aching, and headed back to hoop it up some more. They played their first game and did really good. Then they played in the finals and WON!! Now, I thought we might be involved in a shoot out in the parking lot after the game, and I don't mean with basketballs. The team they played were smaller and they just fouled the entire time and tried to start a few fights and our guys weren't backing down, so it got a little wild. I was so nervous and almost couldn't stand it a few times, but they pulled it out and did great!!

They even got plaques.......so it was official. And look at that huge belly!

A fresh coat of color

Once we got started with painting the house, I couldn't stop. Well I couldn't stop thinking about painting more rooms, they were doing the work. So Holly came back over for a few more nights of painting and did a great job, as usual. She did the bathroom first, and she didn't like the color and I love it. I thought it was going to be more "red", hints the name, fiery red, but it is more of an orange. Anyways, here it is, with some bright sunlight shining through the window.

Then she did the living room. We have some large, open walls and of course I wanted some shade of blue. So we all decided on this one, and of course, I love it!

These aren't the best shots and I haven't put up any decorations on the walls yet. Apparently Alex is tired this evening.

My good friend Charletta just called and said to get my butt over to her house because she is having a garage sale and needs to give me some baby stuff! Yippie!

Barefoot

Today we observed One Day Without Shoes at my school, Lewis Elementary in Forney, TX. I got the school involved and pretty pumped up about it. The kids loved it. We researched Argentina, Rwanda, and New Orleans because those are places that TOMS has done shoe drops. The kids really and truly understood what it meant to be without shoes and how much they really have.

I

I just wanted to post a few of my favorite shots of the day. Hope you enjoy!!

A great day to........stay inside and sew

Yes, I know the weather is near perfect, but I just had to get Maelea's crib skirt done. I hadn't started on it until today and I debated several ideas, but finally decided on this. I don't usually say this, but I'm proud of myself and think I did a decent job...my Granny would be proud, I think.

We're not near done with her room, but we've got a good start. I'm in the process of ordering and deciding on a few things for the walls.

I also wanted to add a few shots from last month that, for some reason I didn't put on here. Love the fam!

And these are the cousins that live in Dallas. Came out for a little bbq.
