This is just a quick little post. Just a post to show you Maelea chewing on her cup, which at this time was her favorite thing to do to it. She's not much on tipping it up and drinking unless you hold it for her.

She was really concentrating.

And now a quick moment for me to just say a few things that seem easier to type than verbalize.
Lately, as in the past couple of weeks, I have gotten a little emotional as I get Maelea ready for bed, feed her, read to her, and lay her down. Some nights I really don't want to lay her down, I just want to hold her and kiss her and talk to her. And when she's sleepy, around 7:00, she's so snuggly and holds onto my shirt and lays her head on me. Several nights I've even gotten quite teary eyed and just made myself lay her down. I know she's fine and will sleep great, but she's growing and changing too fast.

I took some pictures on Saturday that you are going to love of miss Maelea.....stay tuned.

the weekend wrap up

Or the wrap up of the week and a pretty busy one it was. Going and doing and open house at school and warm and rain and cold and everything in between. I completely changed up the office room last weekend and I loved it. Alex thought the tall book shelf in Maelea's room wasn't quite cutting it due to safety issues so it found a new home in the office. It sure is funny how adding a piece of furniture gave me so much more space in there. Anywhoozle, here are some pics of Maelea being Maelea.

She's not crawling yet but she scoots around on her stomach. She pushes up and smiles real big, then lays down and starts moving her legs really fast. If only she would put those two together! I'm not in any rush for her to be mobile though, I know it is only a matter of time.

Here she is in a pretty comfy spot, super relaxed.

little bitsa love

Oh I just love her.

Maelea was having some big girl fun after church today. She loves sitting up and clapping and does it on cue now when you say "yeaaa!"

And she loves smiling and has started doing a squinty eyed scrunchy nose smile, Darling.
And sometimes we get so excited we topple over.

And she's in love with her toes....and her dad of course.

And I love this new book I got. If you remember when I thought I would start a wishlist wednesday post every wednesday (whoops) I said I wanted this book real bad, Porch Parties. Well my sweet mom sent it to me via amazon.com as a just -because- I -love- you -gift. So sweet and boy was I excited, even though Alex attempted to claim it was a late Valentine's gift from him, sorry.

And I snagged this sweet little piece of vintage heaven yesterday at a moving sale. Check out that price tag!

you're getting warmer....

The weather that is, thank you Lord the sunshine feels so good. Don't get me wrong, I sure loved those snow days at home with my hubs and cuddle bug but we got to load up Maelea in the strolley and cruise the neighborhood after dinner this evening. Whoo hoo! What did we have for dinner? Fancy Sammies- wheat berry bread, turkey, bacon, american cheese and feta cheese crumbles all toasted on the GF. not too shabby

This picture completely captures what our snow days were like.

We did a couple of projects on our snow days, late in posting but still fun. Alex helped with the hanging of the frames.

New curtains that I had to hem from West Elm, on major sale. Two old window frames that my mom brought me so I could transfer this vinyl quote and verse from Psalms. They are hung on each side of our fireplace.

Then I changed up the mantle a little bit.

And then I made some paper bunting for Kristy's baby boy Cooper. We work together at Lewis, well actually she's on bed rest right now, but she's due in April. Can't wait to meet the little guy!

Don't worry, Maelea to save the day.

is it the weekend yet?

We got another snow day yesterday, lots of resting and relaxing. We didn't get alot of snow but some weird icy weather. So we had a two hour delay to the start of school today. I like two hour delays, it makes the kids wild but it sure is nice. Tomorrow is Valentine's party day, please pray for me. :)

Here are a few shots of the snow that we did get last week.

Maelea loved looking out our back door. She had two little bird friends that kept searching for snacks, they kept her quite entertained and she would just search for them when they hopped away.

And today is Uncle Garrett's birthday, really....24 years old???

super sunday

I didn't want to get a fine or a ticket for typing "su**r b**l" in the subject line but we're ready for the BIG GAME today.

Here's a long video of the last month of Maelea. A little squealing, smiling, snow playing, and ball throwing.

Have a great day!

Weeeee

Just a few more shots of Maelea and all of her snow day play days!

Alex got out last night to get us some dinner at McDonald's and me a fountain Dr. Pepper. Thanks so much!

They are calling for more snow tomorrow and Wednesday.....I wouldn't mind some more snow days!

The menu

As I mentioned we created a two week dinner menu and I bought the items at the grocery store last time.

Week 1 is down and this is how it went.

Monday: Chicken tacos in flour tortillas with cheese, tortilla chips and Memaw's salsa. Yuuum.

Tuesday: Pork Chops with molasses and butter, shells and cheese, and rolls. For dessert, chocolate mousse parfaits. An easy classic.

Wednesday: Cheesy Pasta with vodka sauce and crescent rolls. The least favorite of the week, but it was good to me.

Thursday: Chicken bacon pizza. I used a pillsbury pizza crust, pizza sauce, grilled the chicken and sliced thinly, cooked the bacon and crumbled into pieces, then covered with mozzarella and colby jack cheeses. The favorite meal of the week.....uh by far, according to Alex.

Next week's meal is planned and we're looking forward to it. Tonight no meal is planned and I desperately need a fountain dr. pepper. But I'm not sure what we're going to do because we got about 6-7 inches of snow. What shall we do? There is, however, a red velvet cake iced in cream cheese icing on the counter, that might work.

7 months old today!

We got two snow days, whooo hoo! But here in good ole TX you must make up snow days.....nothing is built in. But if we miss any more days, maybe we can get a waiver and not have to go on any Saturdays. We'll see.

Maelea had so much fun while we were inside for the entire two days.

We went two hours late today which was nice, but makes the day so wild. And we're going two hours late tomorrow, unless it snows again, which it is going to do.

On to Miss Maelea's 7 month celebration.
She still goes to bed at 7:00 and sleeps until 6:15. She wears a size three diaper and 9 month clothes. She has liked everything we've given her as far as baby food. And for those of you that remember or kept up with her pooping, she poops once and sometimes twice a day now; much more than the once a week fun times we had. :)

Nighty night.

Oh the weather outside is frightful....

but the fire isn't going yet........but we are home from school today! Yaahoozle!!! The news just said it feels like 7 degrees here. The temp is actually 19 degrees though. I had the notion to rustle up some french toast and bacon and it was delightful. We are snuggled up in jammies and two of the three Hatch's are napping. I'll let you guess which two. The snow is flurrying about outside, but not much is coming down but it is a real icy mess here. You couldn't pay me enough money to get out of this house...um, remember the previous bad weather TX driving post? Yeah. I saw a neighbor slide all the way down the street earlier, do you really need to get out? I doubt it because the closings on the news actually have entire cities closed today.

Even though it is freezing today I've got a few pics from the weekend, where it was nearly 70 degrees.

The front yard was the hot spot for our neighbors and Maelea enjoyed all of the attention.

Alex and I got to attend a super fancy wedding on Saturday.

The ceremony was held at the Highland Park United Methodist Church which is stunning. It was so nice and sweet. Then the reception was held at the Dallas Petroleum Club atop a very tall tower in downtown Dallas. We were on the 40th floor, the view was breathtaking. This family spared nothing in making this evening a partay!

My favorite part, besides the food, and the cake, and the dancing, was the photo booth. The bride and groom had a photo strip with their date and names on the end at each place setting that they took and it was so cute. They requested that everyone take a turn in the booth and leave one strip in their book with a note and keep one strip as a thank you. GENIUS!
Casey and Alex worked together last year. Jenna and Casey are both teachers in Palestine. They are now far away from this icy weather in Mexico!

Maelea tried her fresh food feeder Sunday evening with a little banana. Needless to say she went to TOWN and so happy that I pulled this out of the cabinet for her.

Now to some hot chocolate and possibly catch up on some Better Homes and Gardens....you know those back issues that are still in plastic after having my lovebug.
